As a ETL Developer/Architect you will:

  • Develop and Implement Data Architecture Strategy: Create and sustain a comprehensive data architecture that aligns with Clarasight’s business goals.
  • Oversee the Data Warehouse: Manage Clarasight’s core data warehouse, providing the essential backend infrastructure for the B2B SaaS platform.
  • Engage Directly with Customers: Collaborate with customers on data ingestion and reporting needs, ensuring seamless integration of their data into the platform.
  • Optimize Data Ingestion Processes: Handle all stages of data ingestion, establishing a scalable, efficient data flow.
  • Architect and Manage ETL Systems: Design an enterprise-level ETL architecture that accommodates all third-party and customer data feeds, focusing on robust Python-based ETL and orchestration tools.
  • Execute Data Cataloging and Analytics: Perform data cataloging on source data, define clear business rules for data ingestion, and oversee analytics to support data-driven decisions.
  • Build and Maintain ETL Pipelines: Write requirements and implement robust ETL pipelines, prioritizing exception handling and scalability.
  • Lead Data Quality Assurance: Manage both manual and automated data quality processes, ensuring reliable and accurate data.
  • Define and Maintain SLAs: Establish service-level agreements to ensure high-quality data standards.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert: Develop specialized knowledge in travel and expense data, applying it to support client needs.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with engineering, data science, product management, and customer success teams to ensure an integrated approach.
  • Establish Data Governance: Implement data governance policies and democratize data access through compliant, secure channels.
  • Monitor and Troubleshoot Data Infrastructure: Oversee infrastructure monitoring and proactively troubleshoot any issues to maintain high reliability.
  • Plan for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery: Design and test continuity and recovery strategies for the data warehouse.
  • Provide Technical Leadership: Engage in technical mentorship through activities like code reviews, pairing, ADRs, and presentations.

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Bring 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing, with strong expertise in industry methodologies.
  • Are proficient in Python for data engineering and have experience with ETL orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow or similar).
  • Have hands-on experience with AWS and cloud services, demonstrating solid knowledge of RDBMS and SQL for query optimization and performance troubleshooting.
  • Feel comfortable working directly with customers and have experience gathering and implementing client requirements.
  • Have experience with scaling and re-architecting data infrastructure to support large data volumes and complex operations.
  • Are familiar with data transformation tools like DBT or SQLMesh.
  • Understand and have worked with several data warehousing platforms such as Google BigQuery, Snowflake, MemSQL, Apache Ignite, Redshift, or Databricks.
  • Are effective in ambiguous environments with strong practical problem-solving skills.

Bonus points if you:

  • Experience with travel industry data - Highly desired
  • Knowledge of open-source data tools and frameworks like DuckDB, Spark, Trino, Iceberg, or Delta Lake.
  • Background in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) or experience with similarly data-intensive systems.
  • Familiarity with TypeScript, as some legacy ETLs are written in this language.
  • Possess startup or 0-to-1 experience - highly desired
  • Have been a part of projects that required building Data infrastructure from the ground up.
  • Experience with data science or data wrangling to support data manipulation and complex analysis.
